Anti-Ragging & Disciplinary Committee
Swamy Vivekanandha Naturopathy and Yoga Medical College maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards ragging and misconduct. The institution is committed to ensuring a safe, secure, and disciplined campus environment in accordance with the guidelines of the UGC, The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai, and other statutory authorities.

Acts Considered as Ragging / Misconduct
Any of the following actions, whether spoken, written, physical, or digital, shall be treated as ragging or serious misconduct:

  1. Misconduct of any student that harms or intends to harm others
  2. Indulging in undisciplined activities causing physical or psychological harm, fear, or apprehension
  3. Forcing others to perform acts they would not ordinarily do, causing shame or emotional embarrassment
  4. Any act that disrupts academic activities of other students
  5. Financial extortion or imposing forceful monetary burden on freshers or any student
  6. Physical abuse, including sexual or homosexual assault, stripping of clothes, or forcing obscene or lewd acts causing physical or mental torture
  7. Abuse through spoken words, emails, social media posts, or public insults to derive sadistic pleasure
  8. Any act affecting the mental health, dignity, or self-confidence of a student, with or without intent to assert dominance or priority over others

Punishments
For every single incident of ragging, an FIR shall be lodged without exception by the college authorities with the local police.
In addition, one or more of the following punishments may be imposed:

  1. Cancellation of admission
  2. Suspension from attending classes
  3. Withholding or withdrawal of scholarship / fellowship and other benefits
  4. Debarring from appearing in tests, examinations, or other evaluation processes
  5. Withholding of examination results
  6. Debarring from representing the institution in regional, national, or international events, tournaments, or youth festivals
  7. Suspension or expulsion from hostel facilities
  8. Rustication from the institution for a period ranging from one to four semesters
  9. Expulsion from the institution and debarring from admission to any other institution

Collective Punishment
When the persons committing or abetting ragging are not identified, the institution shall resort to collective punishment as a deterrent to ensure community responsibility and prevent future incidents.
